How to optimise the efficency of a halogen light bulb

Halogen bulbs function the same way as incandescent bulbs but they are much more energy efficient and have a longer rated life. An incandescent Bulb has a tungsten filament in it and as the electric current passes through it, it heats up resulting in visible light. Halogen bulbs also have filaments but they have halogen gas inside the housing of the bulb that results in heat. Also halogen bulbs are whiter than Incandescent bulbs. As halogen bulbs consume less energy this results in money saving, making them a good replacement for standard incandescent bulbs. Though there are also some limitations and already disadvantages of Halogen bulbs that must be considered before replacing the ones that we already have in place.

Halogen bulbs work effectively only when the surface of the bulb gets hot. They may not provide the expected output if the bulb surface is not as hot as required. The halogen gas inside the bulb may not react with the filament of the bulb if the bulb surface is cool. Also, Halogen bulbs are more expensive than incandescent bulbs and they are harder to maintain. Also, as the surface of the bulb needs to be hot, they must be made of a heavy glass that has a good strength and that has a heat resistance too. The Halogen bulbs must not be touched with bare hands and instead gloves should be used as they can be very hot to touch.

However, as Halogen bulbs provide excellent light, they can be used in places where bright light is a main criterion. As the size of the bulb is compact, it can be filled with gases like xenon or Krypton to make it a more economical choice. Halogen bulbs last longer than traditional bulbs and are more energy efficient. They can also be used in automobiles like cars, trucks and vans.

Torchiere Halogen Lamps

Torchiere halogen lamps are basically self supporting lamps that have a shallow bowl over them to provide indirect lighting. Tubular halogen bulbs have a temperature between 700 and 1100 degrees and they heat up very quickly in comparison to standard incandescent bulb. Torchiere bulbs are the cause of numerous fires every year due to their very hot surface. They have a lots of fire and safety concerns attached to them. Torchiere bulbs must be used with utmost care. They must not be touched quickly after they are turned off. They must only be used if they are fitted well in the fixture. Also, great care must be taken that there should not be any curtains or towels or any other cloth near to torchiere bulb. Also, these types of lamps are restricted in many campus buildings and residential places.

Bipin

Bipin is a halogen bulb with low voltage widely used for landscape lighting and exhibitions. Their power in wattage ranges from 5 watts to 150 watts and their voltages range from 6 to 120. They can be used anywhere where space is a consideration. Some Models of bipin Low Voltage light bulbs include MR16 and MR11. They can function on 12v , 24v as well as 120v circuits. They are used a lot in track lighting and down lighting. PAR36 is also a Bipin and has a very hard glass so that it can be used inside the house or in outer space.

Bipin halogen 12 volt lights

Bipin halogen 12 volt lights are a very popular source of light widely used in spaces where bright light is needed and space is a concern. They can light more area than an incandescent bulb and they are far more energy efficient. They should not be touched with bare hands as dirt and skin oils can degrade the performance of the bulb and bulbs may not provide adequate lighting in that case.
